Countries With The Largest Number of COVID-19 Cases And Deaths
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected countries around the world in different ways, with some experiencing a higher morbidity and mortality rate than others. The reasons behind the high number of cases in the countries listed below are likely to be complex and multifaceted. Possible factors include small population size and limited testing, which could lead to a higher number of undetected cases. The high population density of several of these countries may also be a contributing factor. As of January 2023, there have been 672.7 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide, a global average of 86,300 cases per million people.
Peru has the largest number of deaths per 1 million population, with 6,490. This is followed by Bulgaria (5,575), Hungary (5,062), Bosnia and Herzegovina (5,000) and North Macedonia (4,628). The average number of deaths per 1 million population worldwide is 865, making the numbers for “leading” countries on the list even more striking.
